Islami Bank Bangladesh : Gazipur Islami Bank branch catches fire
Gazipur, July 6 (UNB) A fire broke out at the Islami Bank
Bangladesh Limited's (IBBL's) Mawna Chourasta branch in Shreepur upazila on
Sunday, burning down some of its furniture and windowpanes.
Fire service
officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit in a room of
the branch on the 1st floor of the four-storey building around 2pm and it soon engulfed the entire
room.
On information, a firefighting
unit from Shreepur rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after half an hour
of frantic efforts.
The extent of
losses from the fire could not be ascertained.
Bangladeshi killed after abduction in Malaysia

Bangladeshis for quizzing, Mantu added.
He, however, couldn't give the details of the detained Bangladeshis.
The autopsy report showed the deceased had been strangled, said Dr
Bhupinder Singh, a senior consultant forensic pathologist at Penang
Hospital.
On Friday, the Myanmar human traffickers demanded
Malaysian Ringgit (RM) 240,000 from some Bangladeshi workers as ransom
after kidnapping Alahi and his friend Mozibur Rahman, 33, another
Bangladeshi worker, at Bukit Jambul, reported The Star.
Mozibur had managed to free himself before lodging a police report, the newspaper reported quoting Malaysian Police.
The victims had received a phone call from an unknown number asking them to repair a kitchen of a flat in the area. They were kidnapped by a group of people impersonating policemen as soon as they reached the spot.
“We were held captive in the deep jungle,” said Mozibur.
